Annie Hui Kung

Annie Hui Kung is a Registered Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA). Annie completed her first two years of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) education at Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology in Victoria, and finished her last year of study and clinical practices at the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Alberta where she graduated as one of the top students and earned her Acupuncture (R.Ac.) and Tuina Massage Certificate. Annie has also completed training in Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation with Dr. Li Jun Song.  After returning to BC, Annie continues to study Herbology and other TCM Health and Wellness related subjects as she believes constant learning is the key to success, especially when embracing such ancient wisdom that is more than 5,000 years old. Annie finds TCM fascinating because it looks at the remarkable relationship between the human body and nature itself, rather than just the body itself. Annie truly believes everything is connected as is the law of the universe. Human beings are a part of the nature; therefore, we must eat, act and live our lives according to nature’s patterns in order to maintain the equilibrium.

Annie was born in Taiwan. She moved to Victoria with her family in 1998. Being a bilingual benefits Annie in her TCM career as many original Chinese Medicine classics are in Chinese, yet speaking fluent English helps her to translate and interrupt the ancient wisdom to her patients in her daily practice. Annie comes from a family with various medical backgrounds such as a surgeon, an orthopaedic doctor, nurse, physiotherapist, reflexologist and TCM practitioners. Growing up in a Western hospital, which was operated by her Grandparents, Annie has always been drawn to the holistic/natural aspects of healing. Her mother, who is also a TCM practitioner and worked as an immunology nutritional consultant for 15 years, has the most influence on Annie’s practice today. TCM has helped Annie with her chronic headaches since she was young, as well as skin irritations, palpitations and general poor circulation.

Annie emphasizes on “Yang” energy in most of her practice. “Yang” is the Sun; it is the driving life-force of all living beings on the planet. Even the Moon’s brightness comes from the Sun. Nothing can survive without sunshine. This is the same with our bodies! We all need “Yang Qi” to keep us going and living. Annie has treated many cases successfully through focusing on nourishing the “Yang”, such as pain/aches, arthritis, insomnia, mental illness, allergy, obesity, digestive disorders, infertility, women’s health and even some ulcers. Annie provides a detailed consultation based on different health concerns, and she combines acupuncture treatments with ear acupuncture and Chinese Tuina massage. Annie also likes to encourage her patients to “take the healing home” with guidance and adjustments to the patients’ diet, lifestyle and metal state, since all are direct influences to one's health and longevity.

In Annie’s spare time, she likes to socialize with friends and family. She loves all kinds of outdoor adventures, as well as badminton, painting/drawing and singing. Dance is also one of her passions in life. Through dance, Annie has learned how to breathe properly in order to stay tune with mind and body. China has a large population of different diverse ethnic groups. Learning different choreographic techniques from each ethic group enables Annie to understand their culture and lifestyles. Annie is very grateful to be on this path she has chosen. Her goal is to help people regain health and happiness. She finds TCM very rewarding as she sees more and more people receiving benefits from it. Her mission is to spread this wisdom of TCM and educate people on how to find balance in their lives. This is a lifelong lesson!

Kind Words...

“I have known Annie for 4 years. Over the past several years, I have been seeing Annie
for TCM consultations and acupuncture treatments. Annie has the ability to put one
at ease immediately, with her warm, thoughtful and calm approach. I’ve found Annie
to be conscientious, thorough, well prepared and organized in her work. I value
Annie for these traits and very much appreciate the consistent, excellent level of care
that she has provided. Annie is a most capable, caring and compassionate young woman
who has a great deal to offer.”

- H. Brown

“As a student, Annie studied very hard. Annie was very easy to get along with her classmates and instructors. She was one of the best students in our college. As Annie is kind, honest, friendly, smart and responsible, I highly recommend her as an acupuncturist.”
- Dr. Ganglin Yin
